PROJEKT EDUKACYJNY
EDUCATIONAL PROJECT
2012/2013
Zapraszamy do odwiedzania strony projektu Chemia-Chemistry na Facebooku oraz na portalu eTwinning, a także do śledzenia aktualności w zakładce Współpraca międzynarodowa.
A partnership between the Chemistry departments at Publiczne Gimnazjum Nr 13 z Oddziałami Dwujęzycznymi im. Polskich Noblistów in Radom, Poland and St John Payne School in Chelmsford, UK. to promote mutual knowledge and understanding of each others cultures and experiences.
We are happy to announce that our project has received the eTwinning Label.
Miło nam poinformować, iż nasz projekt został certyfikowany przez program eTwinning.
Subjects: chemistry
Languages: English - Polish
Age: 13 - 16
Tools: Chat, The Projects Diary, E-mail, Forum, Software (Powerpoint, Skype, Video, Pictures), TwinSpace, Videoconference
Aims: To promote Chemistry in both schools. To explore other cultures and learning styles. For teachers to share resources, experiences and ideas.
Tasks: Students to complete experiments and learn separately and then have a web conference regularly to share findings and ideas. Students to be paired to discuss progress in chemistry.
Results expected: Students to be more aware and appreciate other cultures. Students to develop links and encourage each others learning. Teachers to share resources and ideas.

Winter Session
1. SKYPE Students introduce each other.
2. Experiment: How to separate a mixture of salt, sand and iron filings (independent enquiry). Gallery
3. Predict how much magnesium oxide is made from magnesium and oxygen and calculate the theoretical yield.
4. SKYPE- Students share findings.
5. The history of the periodic table- explore how Mendeleev came up with the idea, alternative arrangements, and 3d models.
6. Electronic configuration and structures of an atom, make a 3d model of an atom.
7. SKYPE: Discuss findings.
8. Bonding: run a set of experiments on unknown substances (graphite, sodium chloride and wax) to identify the type of bonding present. (finding melting point, electrical conductivity of a solid/solution, solubility etc.) This might have to run over 2 sessions.
9. Students to design their own experiment to test the rate of dissolving of a solute. Prelimenary experiments.
10. SKYPE: compare plans, make suitable adjustments ( maybe swap plans).
11. Complete solubility experiment with their methods. Evaluate and conclude.
12. SKYPE Share results, discuss findings, compare conclusions and evaluations.
13. Christmas Lesson: A demonstration of whizz bang lessons e.g. thermite, methane bubbles elephants toothpaste, screaming jelly babies etc.
